About Peter Flynn by Ian Hobbs
Peter is a Chorlton Good Neighbour volunteer and has been for many
years. Peter and has sister Margaret Flynn have written a book on
learning disabilities called "thick about" "Having a learning
disability." This is a children's book but I would recommend
it to anyone who is looking for a learning disability awareness
publication.
At this point you might be thinking that Peter Flynn works as a
learning disability professional. But this is not the case. Peter is an
adult with learning disabilities and with the support of his
sister Margaret he is the co-author of this wonderful book.
In addition to Peters voluntary work with Chorlton Good Neighbours
and his writing. Peter has a part time job working within the NHS he
works in one the local South Manchester hospitals. Peter is also a singer
and sings at our monthly Sunday teas.
A quote from Margaret and Peter Flynn's book
"Try to imagine what life would be like if you had a learning
disability. Where would you go to school? Would you be able to play with
your friend? You might be surprised to find out just how much people
with learning disabilities can do when they are given the chance."

I would recommend this wonderful and beautiful written book to all
my friends and it's a must read to anyone working with people with

My reason for being a Chorlton Good Neighbours
Volunteer, by Peter Flynn
I enjoy doing my voluntary work because it keeps me busy and I enjoy the
crack. (criac) I have recently begun to sing a song at the Sunday teas,
just before the main entertainer come on, and everyone seems to like it.
